The Programme

  1. Successful candidates will enjoy free tuition, lunch and a monthly stipend (not salary) for the entire duration of the program.   1. The Revenue Finance Manager reports to the Commercial Financial Controller. How To Apply For The Nigerian Army Recruitment

Applications are invited from eligible Nigerians for commission into the Nigerian Army (NA) as Short Service Combatant (SSC) Commission officers. The SSC is open to both civilians and serving military personnel. However, only serving military personnel sponsored by any of the Services of the Nigerian Armed Forces to civil institutions shall be considered.

The Nigerian Army Entry Requirement

All applicants for the Nigerian Army Recruitment for this year must satisfy the following conditions:

  1. Be a Nigerian as defined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  2. Be medically, mentally and physically fit according to NA Standards.
  3. Be recommended by at least 2 recognizable referees who must attest to the applicant’s character and integrity. Serving military personnel must be recommended by their commanding officers. Civilians could be recommended by a Local Government Chairman/Secretary or an officer of the Armed Forces not below the rank of a Lieutenant Colonel and equivalent or an Assistant Commissioner of Police and above who must hail from the state of the applicant. Passport photographs of referees must be affixed to the letter of attestation.
  4. Candidates must submit a Letter of Attestation from their former institutions.
  5. Must not have been convicted by any court of law. Military personnel must be free from any disciplinary case (This is to be endorsed by the Commanding Officer/Commander).
  6. Possess at least a first degree with not less than Second Class Lower Division or HND of not less than Lower Credit in the arts, sciences or humanities from any recognized institution of learning.
  7. Possess valid birth certificate endorsed by the National Population Commission, Hospital or Local Government Council or valid age declaration.
  8. Possess a valid certificate of state of origin.
  9. Applicants (other than serving members of the Armed Forces) must possess NYSC discharge certificate or a valid certificate of exemption as the case may be.
  10. Only academic credentials obtained from 2013 to date will be considered.
  11. Candidates must present contact addresses and telephone numbers of parent/guardians and Next of Kin.
  12. Candidates must not have any body inscriptions or tattoos.
  13. Candidates must tender all original copies of educational certificates (primary to post-secondary).
  14. Service personnel must present valid military identity cards and letters of recommendations by their Commanding Officers/Commanders. They must also present valid letter(s) of NA sponsorship in tertiary academic institutions.  Additionally, they must have served for a period of not less than 5 years in the unit.
  15. Candidates must not be members of any cult/society/fraternity.
  16. Measure at least 1.68m (for male) and 1.65m (for female) in height.
  17. Be a male or female between the ages of 23 and 27 by January 2019.

Conditions Of Service

SSC will be granted for 15 years. Ten years will be on active list renewable thereafter for a period not more than 5 years.  No extension shall be granted after the fifteenth year of commission except on conversion to regular combatant commission where applicable.

  1. Officer Cadets who successfully complete the military training shall be granted the rank of second lieutenant.
  2. Conversion to regular combatant commission is not automatic. It is based on availability of vacancy and other criteria that are or will be in force from time to time.
  3. All graduating officer cadets must sign an acceptance on the terms and conditions governing the Short Service Combatant Commission before they are granted commission into the Nigerian Army.
  4. The reckonable period of service will be based on the date of commencement of cadet training of both civilian and military personnel entrants.

Before it became a statutory body recognized by the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps was initially introduced in May 1967 as Lagos Civil Defence Committee during the Nigerian Civil War.

The role of the Committee as at that time was to sensitize and educate residents of Lagos state and its environs on enemy attacks and how to save themselves from danger of war. At the time, the Federal Capital Territory was at Lagos and many of its residents and those in its environs are said to hitherto have had next to no knowledge of war and how to protect themselves against it.

With time however, and in 1970 to be precise, the Lagos Civil Defence Committee metamorphosed into what is now known as The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Members of the Committee deemed it important to educate using electronic and print media on how people can guard themselves during air raids, bomb attacks, identify bombs, and how to dive into trenches when a bomb blast occurs.

In 1984, the Corps was transformed into a National security outfit and in 1988, the Corps witnessed a major re-structuring which resulted to the establishment of its Commands throughout the Federation, including Abuja. Also added were special functions by the Federal Government.

On 28th June 2003, an Act was passed by the National Assembly and signed into law by former president and Commander in chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria Chief OlusegunObasanjo, GCFR to give the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence corps (NSCDC) the statutory backing to function as a statutory organ of the Federal Government of Nigeria

Statutory Duties of The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence corps (NSCDC)

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence corps (NSCDC) is one of the many para-military institutions of the federal government of Nigeria which came into being in May 1967 by the Federal Republic of Nigeria, powered by the act of National Assembly (Nigeria).

The NSCDC is statutorily empowered by lay Act No. 2 of 2003 and amended by Act 6 of 4th June 2007 to enhance the statutory duties of the corp.

The main statutory function of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps is to protect lives and properties in conjunction with Nigeria police and also to:

  1. Provide measures against threat and any form of attack or disaster against the nation and its citizenry.

What is now known as the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT), Ibadan was initially a UNDP/FAO Project NIR/72/007 assisted project termed, the National Fruit and vegetable Research and Development Centre (NFVRDC).

In June 1975, however, the Federal Government Agricultural Research Institutes Establishment Decree Order No. 35 was enacted and enforced thereby converting NFVRDC into the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) as we know it today together with other Agricultural Research Institutes. The Institute as of today is coordinated by the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN)

Physical Infrastructure: NIHORT Headquarters, Substations, and Experimental Stations

NIHORT occupies a land mass of about 1,671ha of land with the NIHORT headquarters which is located in Ibadan, Oyo State taking up as much as 350ha of land. One of NIHORT’s substation which is situated in the humid forest zone of Okigwe in Imo State alonga occupies a land mass of 810ha of land while another substation at Bagauda in the Guinea Savannah zone of Kano, Kano State consumes a land mass of 310ha of land

Apart from the headquarters and the substations, the institute has two experimental stationsin Gombe State and Plateau states respectively. The experimental station in Sudan Savannah zone of Dadinkowa in Gombe State occupies about 126ha of land while the in the mid altitude zone of Jos at Riyom in Plateau State takes up to 75ha of land.

NIHORT is arguably the only Horticultural Research Institute in Nigeria and entire West African region which has a mandate to conduct researches on fruits, spices, vegetables, and ornamental plants. Interestingly, these four (4) groups of plants have over one hundred different plants species.
